Lettuce Wraps makes an amazing dinner, finger food or even appetizer.  It is all natural gluten and dairy free, and sure to please your family or your guests.

This recipe is easy to make, makes great left overs and is ready in about 15 minutes.

This recipe is also low on fat, carbohydrates and calories, and full of protein and flavor!

Ingredients

  • 2 heads of boston, bibb or butter lettuce
  • 1 lb. of ground turkey or chicken
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 Tbsp. of minced garlic
  • 2 tsp. of fresh minced ginger
  • 2 tsp. of oil (EVOO, grapeseed, or asian sesame)
  • 1 Tbsp. of tamari soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. of all natural hoisin sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. of rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tsp. of asian chili pepper sauce
  • 1 can of sliced water chestnuts, diced
  • 1 bunch of green onion, chopped

Instructions

  • 1. Pull lettuce leaves off and rinse.
  • 2. Set aside.
  • 3. Heat oil in pan and add ground meat, onion, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, Asian chili sauce, hoisin sauce and rice wine vinegar.
  • 4. Brown meat and add diced water chestnuts and green onions.
  • 5. Serve in lettuce leaves.
  • 6. Optional confetti to decorate or make more colorful: shredded carrots, shredded broccoli slaw, crushed peanuts, crunchy asian noodles or slivered almonds.
