Portobello Mushroom Pizza

These can be served as a side dish, and one mushroom is recommended per person.

If serving as an appetizer, you can cut each mushroom in half, or if very large, in quarters to make more servings.

Ingredients

  • 4 whole Portobello Mushrooms
  • 4 slices of Mozerella or Provolone Cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic salt
  • 1 Large tomato, sliced
  • 5 fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons of EVOO
  • 1 teaspoon oregano

Instructions

  • 1. Clean the Portobello mushrooms with a wet paper towel.
  • 2. Drizzle each mushroom with balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil.
  • 3. Season with garlic salt.
  • 4. Top each mushroom with a slice of tomato, then top with fresh basil.
  • 5. Place a slice of mozzarella or provolone cheese on top of the tomato and sprinkle dried oregano on top.
  • 6. You can place these mushrooms directly on the grill, or on a piece of foil.
  • 7. They need to grill or bake for 10 minutes.
  • 8. Option: If baking, make sure oven is preheated to 375 before placing in the oven on a foil lined baking sheet.
