Grilled Steak and Asparagus

Steak Wrapped Asparagus

A lovely presentation and very tasty too.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch of asparagus (20-25 stalks)
  • 1 pound flank steak
  • 1/3 cup of coconut amino’s (may use bragg’s liquid amino’s or tamari soy sauce)
  • ¼ cup of lemon or lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon of sea salt (I use Celtic sea salt due to the high mineral content)
  • 1 Tablespoon of raw honey
  • ¼ teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • 2 Tbsp. of sesame oil
  • 1 Tablespoon of sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • 1. Freeze flank steak for 45 minutes to allow for thin slicing.
  • 2. Thinly slice about 20-25 pieces of flank steak about 1/8 thick. (As many pieces as needed to wrap asparagus).
  • 3. Combine coconut amino’s, lemon juice, sea salt, honey, red pepper flakes and sesame oil.
  • 4. Add meat to marinade, and allow to sit at room temperature for 1-2 hours for full flavor.
  • 5. Spray grill with cooking spray and pre-heat on medium heat
  • 6. Trim the bottom ¼ off of each asparagus stem.
  • 7. Wrap meat around the middle part of each asparagus piece.
  • 8. Once finished wrapping asparagus, sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • 9. Grill 4 minutes on each side over medium heat.
